Experienced Chartered Environmentalist joins HLG Associates
Building management specialists HLG have responded to growing awareness and interest in environmental management services through the appointment of a leading local expert. Chartered Environmentalist Chris Bester joins the company to help meet expanding client demand and develop HLG’s strategy and approach in this important area.
Commenting on the appointment, HLG director Jerry Willis said, ‘We’re delighted to welcome Chris to our team. He brings such a range and depth of knowledge and expertise, alongside more than 10 years of practical experience in environmental management. HLG prides itself on remaining abreast of key developments within our industry. At a time when more and more organisations are realising the importance of taking their environmental responsibilities seriously, Chris’s appointment allows us to support the goals of both existing and new clients.’
Among the areas of focus for Chris will be helping organisations audit their current environmental footprint and advising on strategies to aid carbon reduction. Importantly, this includes an emphasis on achieving cost savings in the process of addressing their environmental footprint, rather than simply increasing expenditure in order to meet government targets.
‘There’s a perception that achieving environmental obligations leads to increased cost,’ elaborates Chris, who holds a Diploma in Environmental Management. ‘Whereas with the right approach, environmental initiatives can help organisations save money in the longer term by implementing solutions with real world impacts. I’m looking forward to opportunities for meeting and discussing this with clients, as well as helping develop HLG into the island’s leading organisation on such matters.’
