Alan Renfrew

Alan Renfrew
Alan joined the HLG team in December 2022 and leads our Quantity Surveying services. He brings a wealth of experience gained since graduating from Napier University with a BSc in Quantity Surveying. He is responsible for co-ordinating and developing the quantity surveyor team to enhance the services we deliver. Alan likes to establish the key challenges of a project early on and then identify the most robust processes and documentation to manage those challenges to deliver a successful outcome for our clients.
Alan is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and has gained valuable experience working in contractor, private practice and intelligent client utility roles. After graduating he established his own development company specialising in the conversion of some of Edinburgh’s finest Georgian townhouses back into residential use from offices. After working in private practice and gaining his Chartership Alan joined Scottish Water’s costing team ensuring billion-pound capital maintenance projects were complying with their regulatory cost obligations and efficiency aspirations. Alan has taken forward this unique knowledge and experience he gained during that time into other roles including working in an energy company obligation delivery arm of SSE and working freelance for Scottish local authorities supporting their property services departments.
Alan has recently relocated to Jersey with his family and has been enjoying settling into island life. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling to France to catch up with his wife’s family. He is a cyclist so do not be surprised if he arrives at a site meeting on his bicycle, (weather permitting!)
